Residential complex – Transformation of an industrial area, Milan 1999/2004

Construction of two residential buildings (6.850 sq.mt.) and a public garden (6.200 sq.mt.), on the area bounded by Solari, Stendhal and Savona streets near the city center.  The two buildings (one “L” shaped, 5/6 stories high on the south and west side of the lot, and the other 8 stories high, alongside an existing neighboring building on the NW corner, together with the preexisting industrial buildings, form the space for the new public garden. The “L” shaped building steps down towards the garden, and the upper two floors are pulled back to reduce the perception of the height of the building. The taller building on via Solari, with a series of terraces, mediates with the heights of the existing industrial buildings. The entrance to the private court and the underground garage (150 cars) is on via Savona.
